WDP 8.1 and Windows XP
« am: 02. März 2007, 13:03:01 »
I moved from a pc with Windows 95 running and WDP 8.1 and a Marklin 6051 interface.  All was fine.  I had the luck of obtaining a Dell (for no cost) with Windows XP running and have had no success loading WDP 8.1 or 8.4 with the Marklin interface.  The software when loaded will not even recognize that I have the interface connected.  I have made numerous attempts at getting this to work (unloading Norton etc), but without success.  I even tried reading some of the German forum and noticed reference to WDP 8.5 but could not understand enough to go further.  To verify it is not the Marklin interface, I went back to the Windows 95 machine and all works fine.  That said, I really would like to have only 1 pc in use...preferably the XP.

So, I thought to myself, how about if I download the WDP 9.2 and try that out.  Surely, if I have a problem then 9.2 will not work.  Guess what?  It works

Can anyone please help?

Hello Themeiers,

the Problem is not Windows XP but the Combination with Sp2, that requires the Update from Wdp 8,4 till 8,5 that runs smoothly with Windows XP-Sp2,

Greetings,

My experience was that 8.4.1 worked fine with Windows XP SP2..   I know this as I upgraded to version 9.0 (and later 9.2) on the same computer  and it has never had any other operating system on it..

I wonder if it might be a language setting in Windows that is interfering with the WDP 8.4.1 operation..
