DiCoStation and WDP 9.2
« am: 25. Februar 2007, 00:02:39 »
I realise that this may be a stupid question as the DiCoStation is not released until April 2007, but I noticed on the LDT website that the digital-s-inside software can interact with this hardware.  However, I know that digital-s-inside is also hardware and I believe that WDP 9.2 can communicate with one of these devices.

If WDP 9.2 can communicate with a digital-s-inside can I assume that WDP 9.2 will work with a DiCoStation?  If not, can we please have a small update to version 9.2 international to enable this device?  My reasons are selfish as our Intellibox is no longer working and we are suffering from WDP withdrawal symptoms..

Thanks for the good advice that you always provide here.

Hello Adrian,

the DiCoStation has two modes of operation:
1. Only for feedback contacts (replace of LDT HSI): the required protocol/USB driver is not published/avaiable until now. In german it will be avaible probably in one of the updates of ProX (maybe with much luck in ProX, but I think there is not enough time, because the protocol is not avaiable until now).
2. For driving/swichting/feedback contacts as full replace of a digital station: the information on the LDT is somehow mistakable concerning this topic. Due to this issue Dr.Peterlin talked directly with LDT and the developer of the DiCoStation at the Nurnberg fair. They told us the DiCoStation works always and only direct with Digital-S-Inside, because the Digital-S-Inside-Software is the "digital brain" of the DiCoStation. The Digital-S-Inside-Software simulates an serial port for the communication with Win-Digipet and this already supported in WDP 9.2. So I think WDP 9.2 will work with the DiCoStation threw Digital-S-Inside (you have to buy this also), but I can not give you any guarantee.

Best wihes
Markus

Hello Markus and thanks for the really fast response.

Looks like I will wait for a German forum member to test this unit with WDP when it is released in April.

In the meantime I need to find a cheaper way to connect WDP to my Marklin based layout without using an Intellibox.

Thanks again
Adrian

I am pleased to report that I now have the modellplan Digital-S-Inside (14010) and it works great with Win-digiPet 9.2. Delivery to Australia was very cheap and very fast... I am still waiting for LDT to deliver the HSI-88 that I ordered from them on the same day... Then I will be back into full automation.. I really miss the Automatic On Demand running in WDP..
