Hello !

Thank you for the reply.  No, I do not use 2-rails, but 3-rails (Marklin).  So I can see the difference.

Anyway, the way I have constructed my layout, I use rather long braking-section, and a short stop-section.  I want it to look as much like the "real" thing as possible, so normally the train starts to brake quit early, and use a rather long distance to reduce the speed gradually, until it enters the stop-section.  In the stop-section the speed is reduced all the way to full stop.  The slower the speed is before entering the stop-section, the more reliable the exact stop-point is.  All this works fine.  Untill suddenly the train does not stop until 10-15cm later..  This is what I hope to avoid with the new Tams Controller.

Best regards,
Per.

Hello again.

One question for you learned people:  When I receive the Tams controller, I wonder if it is a good idea to use the Intellibox for solenoid switching (ONLY) still?  Will I have any of the dreaded RESETS in that configuration?  Have anybody tried, does anybody know?

Regards,
Per.

Hi Per,

I tried this quite a long while. But I still had reset problems. Now I only use the Tams MC and have no problems any more.

Best wishes
Markus

Hello !

Thank you!  So I will not try that....  I will put the IB away for good, then.

Hello.

I have received the Tams controller and installed it.  I have not have any resets at all with Tams.  And the trains now stop very much more reliably at (almost) the exact same spot every time.  The "almost" is to indicate that there still is +/- ca 1cm, but that is very acceptable.

Thank you for all your help and advice on the matter !

Per.

Hello.

I am now using the Tams Controller, and the problem with locos not stopping at the same spot, seems very much better.  But it is not completely gone.  It still happens....  I have programmed several routes, and I use 1 loc for testing.  It runs very nicely, stops at (almost) the exact spot every time.  But suddenly, again, it moves maybe 5cm further.  I really do want to get rid of this problem!

I have a new PC, a new Tams Controller, 3 new boosters, 1 new (big) power-supply etc.  I cannot see where the problem is.  I am running Windows XP with no other applications running.

Any more help, anyone...?

Per.

Short of setting up a dead spot in front of a signal I don't think that you will ever fix this problem.  My locos also stop in varying distances.. Typically these are small variances not huge ones.. It can help if you drop the speed as the loco approaches the stop by inserting another contact track... There is less inertia available for the extra distance.. Please remember that in a real life railway stops are not always precise either - the only exception being the stop on a passenger platform..

Cheers
Adrian
