I'm a really newbie in computer control of layouts, and I'm evaluating to purchase WinDigipet 2009 in English as soon as it will be released. I just downlaoded and installed WinDigipet 2009.1 Demo, and I have one questions:
I see that Win-Digipet in his User Manual suggests to use permanent contacts (e.g. Marklin Contact tracks) vs. momentary contacts (e.g . Marklin Circuit track). But currently:
- I have a small layout, so a small number of feedback contacts will be anyway required
- I'm not so keen on the idea of self modifying my C-tracks to obtain contact tracks (as from Workshop 11), but I could possibly buy what Marklin has in catalog (e.g. Marklin contact tracks Art. 24955)
- Marklin currently sells three types of circuit track (one straight and two curved of different radius against only one type of contact track), so using circuit track could be more flexible
- I read of problems that some locomotives show due to poor ground path using only one rail (as in contact tracks)
So the question is: which are the main reasons against using momentary contacts as feedback for WinDigipet?
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
