Zugfahrten-Automatik-Editor (Tours-Automatic-Editor??).

Hello.

I am using the german version 2009.2, but this should apply also to the english version.  And as I am much better in English than in German language, I write it in this forum.

This "problem" has been there as long as I can remember, and it is getting a little annoying.  I wonder if I am doing anything wrong...?

I use Zugfahrten-Automatic (Tours-Automatic?) a lot.  So I have a rather big .ZFA file.  Currently more than 300 lines.  I use Folgefahrten (Follow-uo-routes?) a lot.  So many places I have filled them up (20 lines).  The system is fantastic, and I like it a lot !!!  Have done so since the start of this feature.

But here is the thing:  I very often make changes in Folgefahrten (follow-up routes?), add new lines, delete lines etc.  This all works fine.  But from time to time I make a mistake:

This works correct:  Opening the editor and looking at the different Zugfahrten (Tours?) works fine.  Inserting a new line works fine (ALT-INS).  Deleting a line works fine (ALT-DEL), a warnig appears (Do you want to delete....) before it is deleted.  This is all very fine.  I then open the tab for Folgefahrten (Follow-up-routes?), click on a line there, insert and delete, all works fine, including the warning before delete.  All works correct.

This is a bit tricky:  Done all as above, with the Folgefahrten (Follow-up-routes?) window still open, I click on ANOTHER line in the main window in the editor.  I may want to look for another line with the same Folgefahrt (Follow-up-routes?) to delete. Works fine.  I find one with the Folgefahrt (Follow-up-routes?) I want to delete, it is in the first line in the list of Folgefahrten ((Follow-up-routes?).  As that Folgefahrt-line (Follow-up-routes line?), is automaticly highlighted, (without me clicking on it) I press ALT-DEL to delete it.  Big mistake...  This off course deletes the line in the MAIN-window, not in the Folgefahrten (Follow-up-routes?) window.  The line both in the main-window and in the Folgefahrten (Follow-up-routes?) window are both highlighted, and "in the heat of the moment" I am looking for a Folgefahrt (Follow-up-routes?) to delete, and as I have found it, and it is highlighted, I press ALT-DEL to delete it. The warning appears, I answer YES, I think I am deleting the line in the Folgefahrt (Follow-up-routes?) window, as it is highlighted too.  I forget that I last cliked on a line in the main-window (my mistake).

Off course (?) I see my mistake at once (when the line has been deleted), and I want to undo my last mistake.  I have not found any way to do so.  So then I have 2 choices, I can either exit the editor all together WITHOUT saving, and by doing so, loosing ALL changes I have done since I opened it, or I can save it with the changes and hope to fix it afterwards.

Suggestions (or maybe I have ooverlooked something..?):
1:  Let only one line in either the main-window, OR one line in the Folgefahrten (Follow-up-routes?) window, be highlighted at the time, not both at the same time.
2:  Let there be a way to UNDO last changes in this editor, so I can bring back deleted lines without having to quit the editor.

Yes, I know that with careful use, this is not a problem, but people (me) make mistakes.  And sometimes it has very time-consuming consequenses...

I understand your problem very well because that happens sometimes to me too. So for me it would be fine if your suggestions could be realised on either way.

But I have a suggestion for you. If I understand properly you make changes to your Folgefahrten by deleting the old one and creating a new one. This results in a lot of work by rearranging the Zugfahrten and the entries in the Folgefahrten in the ZFA. Do not delete your Fahrstraßen which you want to alter (Folgefahrten are Fahrstraßen as you know). Chose your Fahrstraße in the Fahrstraßen-Assistent and click on the Fahrstraßen menu and then on Aufzeichnen. Or you can click on the camera icon immediately. Then you see your Fahrstraße which you want to alter. Now you can change your Fahrstraße manually or half automated (see the manual for more information).

The reason for doing so is: Each Fahrstraße has its individual ID. When you delete a Fahrstraße and add a complete new Fahrstraße this one will have a new ID and you have to do all the work you always do. But if you alter an exisiting Fahrstraße the ID will still be the same and you do not have to make any changes in the Zugfahrten or in the ZFA.

Good morning, and thanks for your reply.

Maybe I do not fully understand you, but the cases I am talking about, are not changing something inside the Folgefahrt, but completely remove it, and insert ANOTHER totally different route.  This is done during major changes in the way the trains are moving in my layout.

I am aware that I can change things inside the Folgefahrt without deleting it and re-inserting it.

It may be that I did not fully understand your point..?

no, it was me who didn't understand you correctly. I thought that you just make changes to your Folgefahrten/Fahrstraßen and not that you make big changes that way that you need completely new Folgefahrten. In that way it's correct what you do.
