64 Bit
« am: 30. Dezember 2004, 20:28:10 »
Dear Windigipet

I have recently purchased an AMD Athlon 64 processor computer.  Having inserted my windigipet disk nothing happened.  Is this because the software is not compatible with a 64 bit machine.  If so is there a version which works.

Dear Windigipet

Because the hard drive was partitioned, I used the f: drive as my DVD drive and I managed to install version 8.1 and update 8.4.  However when I wanted to start it I would see the message: checking disk and then the drive would come to a halt.  I tried reinstalling but it didn't work.  I copied backup from a CD-r to the backup folder in the windigipet directory but when I tried the track diagram editor, there was no sign of the original layout.  Is there a solution?

Hello Michael,

Did you executed "SetCode84.exe" in the Win-Digipet-Folder once after the installation of the update 8.4?
If this does not work, then I think the copy protection in version 8.4 could have a problem with an AMD-64-bit-processor, but until now there is no special version for the AMD-64-bit processors. Maybe the german version 8.5.1 is able to work on such a machine (if your version 8.4 does not), but unfortunately this version 8.5.1 is only avaibale in German. There was no time to release an international version 8.5.1, because of the ongoing work for version 9.0.
I will ask some German users if they have any experience with such a processor.

For a backup you have to copy the following files from you Win-Digipet-Main-Folder (to a CD for example) and for a restore also back to the Win-Digipet-Main-Folder (not the Backup-Folder):
-WDRoutes.mdb
-WDigilok.mdb
-all file with the ending "dat"
-all file with the ending "akk"
-all file with the ending "tb"
-all file with the ending "fpl"

Remember:
Depending on your operation system it´s maybe necessary to remove the write-protection from the files after a restore from a CD.

Best wishes
Markus

Dear Marcus

I did use "SetCode84.exe" and I also reinstalled everything again, but it still did not work.  On the plus side I loaded the main windigipet directory with my CD and my information was restored. Hopefully I can use my old machine to operate windigipet.  Thank you

Dear Windigipet

My old computer is inoperable.  Can you let me know if there is some sort of trick available for me to use my 64 bit machine.  Regards
