WDP 2015 & diferent languages

Perhaps it's too late for the new version of WDP 2015, perhaps it is not. Some soft-wares use language files to offer other languages. The language text file could be replaced at any time. It seems, it would be easier to have just one version of WDP and no delay for English and other languages releases.
Anyway, whether that option is real or not, thank you, Mr. Peterlin, for the great software.

Hi Kuba,

I know what you mentioned. On some websites with PHP Scripts this is already very common. You install the component and at the same time these different language packs are installed. There is one Mother file and the other languages look in this file what to reproduce.

It only has to do with the Programm language you use, and the possible use of these language files.
I don't think this will be present in the 2015 version.

Be happy with the fact, that if your update in your language is available this is a fully tested version. All the german users maybe have the software updates first... but many " First " may be the " last" and many last may be the First (famous old dutch adage)

Hi Kuba,

the problem is not the technology but the translation. First the programming has to be finished (it's still not finished) then you can translate all terms. That takes it time. But the English version is next after the German.

Stefan is right. The translation of the program takes some time (we just have to translate the difference compared to the former version). The real problem is the manual (from this the online help is generated), depending on the changings in the program this translation takes some months for us.

I had a discussion with someone about these translations.

Is this translation only a litteral translation of the version ?  or is this version the same version but only in another language ? f.e in English ?

When i look at the downloads the Uk version is about 139 Mb Large ? So that gave me the feeling it is the same version but only translated in another version. When i installed the UK version on a clean computer it worked quit right for only some translations ...

What Kuba ment with his question as i understood was if there was in the 2015 version only a special language pack like some PHP programs on websites.
There you can install only a language pack ( it ony contains translations) and the program itself is exactly the same...

This also because i'm interested in this thread myself ...

I have no doubt about time consuming work with manual, it could be later. My question was about one software for all languages being able to select specific language. I've already upgraded WDP twice, i.e. to 2009, and to 2012 versions, in both cases it took almost half of the year to have English WDP.

Hello Kuba,

No, our current tool does not allow online language switching (no language pack, the language is fix compiled into the program). We discussed this already, a change of the used tool would be much work to do. Until now other projects had higher priority and we did not have the time.
But also a faster translated program would not be a sufficient solution, because you would get it with a German online help, because the online help can just be created out of the translated manual. So you would have an English version without any English explanations.

Hi Kuba,

yes, that's right. Bring your old CD (important!) and you can get your update there. There's a tiny risk still left that the new version wouldn't be finished by then but I think it will be available then!

By the way, every day during the Dortmund fair the WDP users meet at noon at the Modellplan booth. You're invited to come along!
