Windows XP
« am: 07. Dezember 2005, 17:34:14 »
Dear Forum.
For various reasons I have not used the PC I use to control my layout with for more than half a year. Therefor the first thing I did when I began to use it again was to update both Windows and Norton antivirus. To my surprise it meant that Windows chrashed when I tried to start Win-digipet. I tried to reinstal/repair Win-digipet but it did not help so I have to bring Windows back to before the update and now Win-digipet works.
But I would of course like to be able to update both Windows and Norton Antivirus, so what can I do?
Wait untill ver. 9.0 is released? or update Windows and Norton step by step?
Thank you in advance.

dear mogens,

In Antwort auf:
Norton antivirus

there has been no answer to your question, so i try to help you. first: you should uninstall norton antivirus complete. with complete i mean the whole things from norton like

- live-update
- norton security-center
- norton antivirus
- other related norton av-stuff.

if you have done this try to start wdp. i bet a buck that will work now. norton av is imho the source of your problems.

if wdp works there will be some solutions:

- contact symantec for help (hmmmm, no real chance)
- change your antivirus-software (try: http://www.avast.at)
- try to stop nav while using wdp (you have to stop the nav icons and then take a look into the windows xp services: norton av will not just stop when the icon´s disabled)

Dear Thomas.
Thank you for your answer. I have been away traveling so I haven't seen your answer before today.
I will try and do what you propose and hopefully it will help.
Best regards
Mogens
