Norwegian characters (æøåÆØÅ) not allowed in ProX routes!!

Hello.

I finally installed the German version ProX.3 and am now starting to configure it.  I would normally prefer the English version (as german is not a very good language for me, sorry), but have used the last german versions as they are released sooner, and are also "originals".

But this time, I have a problem.  In all text-fields, I am used to using Norwegian text, including the Norwegian special letters æøåÆØÅ.  This has never been a problem, neither in WinDigipet or in any other software for at least the last 10 years.  But in this last version of WinDigipet, they cannot be used in Routes Description.  This is not good, as I use ONLY Norwegian language there, so I have to be able to use norwegian characters.  I do not like to have to go back to the (bad) old days, and use:
ae for æ
oe for ø
å for å
Ae for Æ
Oe for Ø
Aa for Å
It is not so difficult to allow ALL languages special characters (not only the Norwegian ones).  They were allowed in last version, and should still be allowed.  Much more user-friendly!

Hello again.  I just checked with some of the special GERMAN characters, like "ü", and they are working.  So it should be a good thing to re-install the use of norwegian letters!

I have only English demo Pro.X.3 Demo still.
But there is the Norwegian øæå ok to write in rote editor, descriptions and id text.

(I answer in English language, as this is an english-speaking forum, normally we would write in norwegian language, as we both are norwegians.  Just for info to others...).

I just tried both the english and the german ProX.3 Demo versions, and the characters are not allowed in any of them.  Look at the enclosed screen-shot.

It seems, this is a Windows-Systems-Problem and not a WDP one. Please look at the sets for countries; I think there is the solution. Good luck.

Thank you, I will try to check.  But Dr. Peterlin told me this:
"sorry , there is no way to fix it. You have to re-write all routes  !"

So I assume that there IS a change in the software,

I will try to install on another PC with English version of the operating system.

I now tried to install ProX English and German verions (X3 Demo) on another PC running english Windows XP SP2.  Same problem there.

And tested it just after.
But I didn’t have a old WD on this computer before. (laptop)
I run my layouts with other computers.

OK.

I tried every PC in this house, and they all work the same.  The letters are not allowed.  When I write a new text, and press ENTER to save the text, the warning appears, and the letters are removed.

I coudn’t write øæå more than the first time.
I did try to change the word with æøå, and then I didn’t get allowed to do it more.
But still in ID.text do I have æøå in the description. Computer is funny.

I did test it on a other computer yesterday, and get the same result so Per.

But we need ÆØÅ in Norwegian writing.
It will be for us the same to take away W in English writing…

Per says that Mr. Peterlin has told him that this is a deliberate change and that it cannot/will not be reversed. Is there any way that Mr. Peterlin could explain more in detail why it's changed, what the changes are and why it can't be changed back?

As earlier stated this is a major drawback for the Scandinavian users (partly exept the Swedes, as the use the "umlaut"; in ä and ö), and will probably cause people to look for another program.

Of course there is a way to fix it.  The only question is if they are willing to take the time and effort to do so.  I agree with Nils, we really DO need to be able to use our language in comment-lines etc. 

I have returned the old version 9, where this was not a problem, so I cannot go back   

The version X seems very nice.  I am almost through reading all docs, and I am very impressed with many of the new features.  Only BIG disappointment, is the æøåÆØÅ-problem.  So far...

But earliest in one of the next updates you can use it.
