CS2, CS1 (not reloaded), and WDP Premium 2009
« am: 24. Mai 2010, 22:34:16 »
Hello All,

I have a CS1 (not reloaded) and wanted to use it as an additional controller for my CS2.  Apparently this works with the latest update for the CS2 (1.3.0 (1)) using the network inputs(I haven't tried it yet).  But, I have the CS2 network cable plugged into my laptop to control the layout with WDP.  How can I connect the CS1 to the CS2 and still use my laptop to control the layout.  Do I need a router, a switch, or a hub?  Any help would be appreciated.

I don't want to connect the CS1 as a second digital system in WDP, I just want to use it as a controller with my CS2.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Elliott

Hello Elliott,

a switch or a hub will be sufficient. I would suggest to buy a cheap switch. Hubs are no longer used/avaiable today and also have a bad performance.

Hello Markus,

Thanks for your quick response.  A friend of mine had an extra router which he could give me.  Can I also use this to connect the CS2, CS1 and WDP?  If so, which cables do I use to connect to the router (cross-over, standard).  If not, which cables do I need for the Switch?  Sorry for the many questions, I'm a little unsure when it comes to networking ;)

Thanks again for your help,

Elliott

yes. you can also use a router. it usually works as a switch.
Just note that you connect your computer, the CS1 and CS2 to the "Lan" ports. (usually one port is labelled Wan - this is for the internet).

As for cables just use standard cables (Not crossed cables).

Good luck :)
