I am about to give up on using WDP 2012 with my Ecos2 command station as I have drawn a blank on this forum trying to get my s88 LDT RM-GB-8 to register occupancy within the WDP track editor, despite help from a UK WDP (But non-ECOS) user. I know my setup works with other train control software, so why won't it with WDP?

One last plea - is there any WDP users out there with a similar Ecos setup to mine that have been successful in getting to use WDP?

Alf

Hi Alf,

Ok, as far I understand your posting you set up den ECoS in the Win-Digipet system settings and you have a connecting. Your problem is now the feedback stuff, correct?

First of all you have to tell Win-Digipet, that there are feedback modules connected to your ECoS. For this purpose go to the Win-Digipet system settings index card "Feedback contacts".
In the list on this index card you will have to enter how many feedback modules (each module means 8 inputs) are connected to your ECoS and there you can select to which WDP internal feedback numbering the you should be assigned. See manual chapter 4.3.

A normal setup would be fo e.g. 10 LDT RM-GB-8:
ECoS from module 1 to 10 start module in Win-Digipet 1. This would tell Win-Digipet, that your 10 modules should be mapped to internal modules 1 to 10 (contacts 1 to 80).
This global assignment has a big advantage: if you change the order of your feedback modules later or you switch to another system, you will have change your setups only in this window.

No you can use the feedback in the track diagram editor. See manual chapter 7.4 and 7.5.

Markus

Thanks Markus for the input,

This is how I have setup my s88 units, the only difference in what you suggest is that I have assigned the feedbacks to my track editor before setting up the s88 in the hardware combobox (I think??). if that is possible - you can tell I'm a beginner with WDP  :P. So is there any way of testing how WDP sees my s88 modules so that I can compare them to the actual s88 readings that my Ecos CS gives when a loco is in the track covered by a particular s88 contact?

Also I am struggling with how I get a loco displayed in the blank ID boxes my WDP helper James has put on my track editor display? he has made them large enough to show the full name of each loco but when I right-click on the empty box to set a route the dialogue box says there is no loco there despite me having a loco standing in that block (and I can manually drive it via the throttle in WDP).

Alf

Please take a look at chapter "7.5.2 Test Monitor of all feedback decoders" of the manual.

I don´t really understand the question. A loco is display in the train number display? Is this train number display recorded as start contact in your route. Did you read the quick entrance chapter of the manual. This chapter describes the first steps in detail.

Yes I have read this chapter over and over again, as well a redoing  the allocation of feedback modules as you described, just in case I had got it wrong the first time. Reapplied the feedback contacts to mf track diagram, I have worked out now how to allocate a loco to a train display, and then setup a route. However the loco does not do anything when you chose Switch and drive.
I think it is to do eith the gact

Sorry about the last reply I was doing it on my phone and the small screen made it impossible to see where the cursor was, accidentally clicking on the send button before I had finished checking/typing..........here goes again on the laptop  ;)

Yes I have read this chapter over and over again, as well a redoing  the allocation of feedback modules as you described tonight, just in case I had got it wrong the first time. Reapplied the feedback contacts to my track diagram, I have worked out now how to allocate a loco to a train display, so progress there :) as well as then setup a route from one train display to another. However the loco does not do anything when you chose Switch and drive.
I think it is to do with the fact that the location of the loco is not being reported to WDP that is the s88 feedback contacts are still not being read by the software!! I have used the feedback monitor to check that the relevant feedback contacts are correctly allocated to the right blocks on my diagram.......

I don't know what else I can do?

Alf

Hi Alf,

please make screencopy of your feedback contact registration in the system settings and attach this screen copy to your next post.
You don´t see any red hightlighting in the feedback contact monitor?

This may sound like a stupid question, but are you in the Track Editor or in the main  program?  You wont see any feedback indicated in the editor if that is what you're trying to do.  You must be in the main program to see any type of indicators for feedback on the screen.

Just a thought,

Aloha,

Elliott

Thanks to everyone who is hanging in there trying to get me sorted with WDP!! 8)

I am referring to the main programme where I am not getting the occupied track showing red.

Hopefully I have attached screenshots of my feedback settings screen and the FB monitor window with a loco sitting on Track 1 - so as you can see no red there either?

Alf

Hello Alf,

Looks to me that you have your feedback modules set up correctly.  Does your Ecos 2 show feedback on track 1?

I have version 2009.5, the only difference between your setup and mine is that I have no line item on my feedback screen and I am using a CS2.

I hope you get this sorted out soon, I'm at a loss as to what else could be wrong.

Aloha,

Elliott

Hello Alf,

I tried your setup this evening with an ECoS2, two S88 modules and WDP english.

Here at my site it works without any problem. You are aware of the fact, that in the ECoS display the contacts are numbered 16 down to 1 (from left to right) while in the Win-Digipet feedback monitor are numbered 1 up to 16 (and so on). I was irritated by this myself.

YYYeeeesss! success!! ;D

When you mentioned how the Ecos shows its s88 occupancy from right to left this got me thinking that this is where my silly schoolboy error may have been committed whilst setting up WDP's feedback contacts.

So double-checked the s88 screen on the ecos - see attachment, (even though have starred at this loads before), I hadn't appreciated that my actual loop I had setup on WDP was using the 2nd of my s88 modules in the s88 'daisy chain', so once I altered the feedback contacts in WDP to be 9,10,11 & 12 (not 1,2,3 & 4) as first setup, I got occupancy registered in WDP.......................... phew!

Now onto the next stage.............................getting a loco to go where I want it, and stop exactly where I want it to - which was the main reason for trying WDP over some other train control programmes I have been looking at.

Thanks to everyone for helping me sort this silly, and what turned out to be simple fix. :P

Regards,
Alf
