Difficulties with programmint the turn table
« am: 16. Oktober 2013, 17:36:52 »
Hello,
I have difficulties with the turn table programming :
Once I recorded the track connection , the turn table graphic does not give me the addresses of track connections I recorded. See attached pictures in PDF file.
Is it normal to get 0,0 for some recorded positions?
Regards.

Hello ebarra,

I think that only 24 positions are available,  to get an address for the upper left side of the turntable, you need to use the lower right position's address in this case 34, 231 and 34, 232.  i.e. mark the position opposite the upper left positions to get an address.

Hope this helps,

Elliott

Elliot,
Thank for your suggestion but unfortunately it does not work.
In fact what I need to know is if the turntable windows needs to display those correct adresses to allow proper working.
As  far as we know the adresses for the command contacts will the system work?

One other thing to clarify: if we only program the Intelligent turn table can we skip the standard turntable window?

Regards.

Hi EBarra,
Zitat
One other thing to clarify: if we only program the Intelligent turn table can we skip the standard turntable window?

the "old" dialogue can support you to program the turntable decoder. But, it depends a little bit on the decoder type you have. This dialogue was created for the Mäklin turntable decoder (did'nt know the number). This one is working on the keybooard ranges 15 e.g.14 which means adresses from 225 up to 240 or 210 up to 224.
Some of the other decoders supporting these ranges, too. Which decoder do you have?

Indepentdent to the turntable decoder you have, these generally steps are the same:

first you have to configure the decoder adresses. (basic address, addresses for the track connections, adress for step and so on). basically you can do this without wdp, only with your digital system. but, fortunately wdp can support you here. to send the multiple addresses out of a track layout.

second step is to test about every track connection if it will be coosen in the right way. try also chang the directions, single steps an 180 degrees turns

the last step is to create a track layout in wdp wher you set up the existin track connections.

the las (optional) step is to set up the intelligent turntable dialogue. With this wdp is able to know about the position of the stage and what's about the shortest way to go to the next choosen position.

So, please let us know which turntable decoder you have

Dear Bernd,
My turn table decoder us a Littfinski TT DEC fully compatible with the Marklin one.
But my issue has nothing to do with the decoder.
If you look at the pages 3 and 4  of the pdf in my first post, you will notice than when I click on a turntable position on the standard turntable programming window, the display in the right bottom of that windows ( red circle) remains to 0 instead of giving the position adress. This happenend with or without having any decoder connected. I am afraid we might have a software bug here!!!!
But at the end I can not drive my turntable to the position I wish through the track layout. As the adresses are not reconized by the software.
The programming of the intelligent turn table is working only with the two adresses I could get on the standard turn table window which are the page 1 and 2 of my pdf file!
I am using premium english version 2.2.
It would be nice someone from the software development could give a look at this???
Thanks for your support, I hope you understand now more clearly my problem.
Best regards.

Hi Ebarra,

Zitat

Ok, here we go. But our Betatester (like Bernd) are absolutely competent and can handle the forum´s questions themselve as they are something like a part of the software development (even if they do not write code).

Let´s continue with the following question:
Zitat
if we only program the Intelligent turn table can we skip the standard turntable window?
You can skip the standard turntable window always if your decoder is standard programmed (factory-default). The only purpose of the standard turntable window is to program the decoder if you want to reduce the avaiable turntable connectors which can be reached via Step Left or Right to the connected one.
If you just want to use the decoder with Win-Digipet this not necessary.

So I would suggest to do the following:
1. Forget the standard turntable window
2. Reset the decoder to factory values
3. Enter the addresses of the connected tracks in the track diagram editor (it is no problem, that intermediate addresses for unused connectors are not used).
4. Test the programmed connectors in the main program (the turn direction can be set by using direction buttons).
5. Forget the Step left and right buttons, they are not necessary for the intelligent.
6. If everything works until now, register the connectors from the track diagram to the intelligent turntable window to according connector number.
7. Now everything should work.

I installed several turntables for users by myself, I never ever changed the factory programming of the decoder. Because of thos I also never used the standard turntable window myself (it was introduced by Dr. Peterlin himself long before I came to Win-Digipet ten years ago) and never had any problems with this (beside of this, I doubt that there is any bug inside, because it is such an old approved component, which has been used by very many used in the past before the introduction of the intelligent turntable).

I hope I did not forgot anything.

Regards
Markus

Dear Markus,
Thanks for your help, I will try all of this A.S.A.P.
Meanwhile I founded something:
I opened the file of the turntable and founded it empty except two adresses (I don't know why).
I founded the original file in which the data with the adresses are stored and copyed it into my project and now it works.
Sometimes during programming the turntable the data were erased may be when trying tu use adress 16 instead if 15?
I do not know how but anyway things are now back to normal.
Thanks again.
Regards.
