Tour automatic, follow on tour random not working?
« am: 20. November 2013, 23:59:23 »
Hello,
I am lost on a particular problem.
I have a layout with one main station and I would like to create randomized traffic. A train starts from a platform, goes around the track (two mid way stop contacts) and then enters the station on one of 3 rails.

IMAGE 3.jpg:
start contact is G3S, the first route is "G3S-SO", at contact SO I have the follow-on-tour to SO-NI. At contact NI I have a follow-on-tour to NI-G3S (at the moment), but in 6 different ways: -M refers to a route that has a stop-at-signal end. Without -M the train will stop at mid platform.
I have also planned different timings for a stop delay. Only in two routes I put a following route to G3S-SO (transit without stop).

As you can see in image 5.JPG I choosed 'At random', hoping that the train would change behaviour. Sadly my result is that the train keeps running the first line of the follow-on-tour: a transit without stop.

What am I doing wrong? A friend told me that I have to specify the stop point also in the follow on tour window... I will try that but the stop point is not the only thing that is not happening... I have no stop delay at all.

Does the random picks a random follow on tour route each time? Or just after a while?

In the test document I have added (as for G3S) G2S and G1S. In that way the choice should have more options (timing, position and platform)... it works always with the first available line.

I have put a locomotive on G3S and the running train swapped on G2S. Always. with no stop delays. G2S with no delays is the first available choice in the follow-on-tour list.

 :o :(

If it is important my version is the english 2012 professional, updated to 2012.2 (latest).

thank you for anything that may help!!

Thank you very much!

Dear killerch,
It behaves as if it was selecting routes in sequential.
You should may be select sequential mode then save close the route editor then reopen select again the random mode and save again.

The column waiting is not timing for a stop delay, it is a delay before starting the tour or the route once the route is loked.

I also notice in 3. Jpg than you have some preconditions ( in yellow): i do not know if something can block the route choice from it , but you should check.
Regrads.

Hello,
thank you for the answer. I will try in a few minutes. The preconditions are just made by a virtual switch (I made that so I could block a piece of track to the traffic and work on it).

Sadly setting to sequential, saving, then back to random but without success...
Is there a way to have a log file of what WDP is doing? Like "choosing randomly between lines 1-5" "preparing follow up" "train stop for xx seconds" ?

Why dont you post a backup zip file of your project using data maintenance without saving the loco data and locs pictures?

To follow events you can use:
You can use the train inspector page 477 of english 2012 user guide and also the tour inspector page 528.

18.6 Train inspector, Inspecting/Resetting/Cancelling active routes or tours
Switched routes/tours can be inspected/reset/cancelled via...
 the short menu of the right mouse button, selection: < Train inspector >  or the function key F7
 or the menu <View> <Train inspector>
 or the button  in the toolbar.
The window “Train inspector“ with all currently executed routes/tours will appear.

I have unchecked symboles, vehicles database and pictures.

Sorry, I haven't tought of that :)

I'll try train inspector too. Thank you!

I think I founded .
Look at your 5.jpeg file:
following routes tours 3,4,5,6,7,8 are all tours N1-GS3 with different stop positions.
You just did not entered the routes N1-GS2& GS1.
See picturure of the lines I added

:-[ as usual my mistakes are so dumb that at the end I hate myself.

Sorry to bother you, now it seems to work fine. Just one more question:
Let's take a simple example, using only G3S.

I have written in tour automatic a route that goes from G3S to SO and then it comes back from N..
After G3S-SO I have defined a follow-on-tour to SO-NI, which has a 'FoT' to NI-G3S.

I have three kinds of 'standard' arrivals:
passenger only -> stop at mid platform
freight only -> stop at signal
transit -> FoT to G3S-SO (so it doesn't stop or slow down if not necessary)

My last problem is the waiting times. The waiting times, to be awesome, should be variable between 15 seconds and 60 seconds for passengers and 30 seconds to 120 seconds for freight.

Is it possible to do that? Or just give some fixed times to chose randomly from (example 15,25,35,45,50,55 or 60) ?

Do I have do set a delay on G3S-SO (before the start) or on NI-G3S (after arrival, like 'keep this train frozen for xx seconds') ?

Thank you very much!

I guess you have no choice and this is what you have to do. As far as I know there is no random time generator in WDGP. This would be an interesting suggestion to include such kind of function in next release.[/color]

Do I have do set a delay on G3S-SO (before the start) ?
Yes but i think that if you want to stop in G3S you should have following tour and not a following way to allow the train to stop. No following way or tour should work to.

.[/b]

or on NI-G3S (after arrival, like 'keep this train frozen for xx seconds') ? When arriving on g3s i think you should use the by arrival. But I guess you can also delay the start by few seconds: it allows for instance to switch the traffic light to green a few seconds before the train starts moving...
I am not 100% sure of these are the best options but it should work.
Regards.

Thank you very much!
