No, I haven't managed to resolve my PC installation problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Update - problem solved, sort of.

Programs install fine on to C:\WDIGIPET_INT but not onto D:\WDIGIPET_INT as per all my other installations.

Can anyone tell me why the choice of local hard drive should make a difference?

Hello,

no idea. Especially because the database driver are located in the windows and the common files directory. But sometimes the windows installer has some stupid attitudes.

Hello Red,

After more than 30 Years IT experiences... i can tell you that this is a problem that now and then appears.

I've learned that the best thing to avert such problems as you now mention is to install the programs always to the C drive and Data or documents to your D drive.

As you know as a It person, it's always possible to have some kind of protocol conflict... windows says "if not then " ... and the installed software wants a "don't "

I think the greatest nightmare of software developpers is always a new Windows version :-)

concerning Windows 10. WDP is not tested if it runs with Win10! How could it because we don't get Win10 earlier then anybody else. It might work but we don't guarantee it.

I have no current intention to operate WDP from Windows 10.

I am looking at replacing my old #1 Windows 7 PC with a Windows 10 one since my #1 PC is over 10 years old, then I can release my even older #2 Windows 7 PC for my railway room.

I used to work in network support so I am well used to building and modifying PCs, it's just that eventually you have to buy a new one (well just the main unit, anyway).
