Crossover problems
« am: 20. April 2020, 01:04:59 »
Hello
I'm having trouble getting a cross in my layout to work the way I want.
Has N scale and uses peco 55 tracks.
Has a double track that intersects in one y.
It is not a double or single slip, just an ordinary cross.
But I have to regulate the frog on both ends.
I can't find any items for crossing, so I've learned to put together 2 regular turnouts so they form a cross.
The manual says that I should check the box for virtual decoder, but then I can not control any decoder that changes the polarity of the frog
When I have not checked the virtual decoder box, I can control a decoder but it becomes a double slip and has 4 options.
I just need to have two straight through.
There must be others here who solved this, so I hope someone can explain how to do it

Has nobody really had this problem before?
And can come up with a suggested solution.
Is it a miss in Win-Digipet, or is it I who does not understand how to do this?

I would control polarization of the crossing with lower turnout. I.e. two additional relays, operated by the position of the turnout.
Greetings,
Andrzej

Hi,

I don't have this problem, all of my crossovers are isolated. WDP is capable to control double slips with one or two decoders. In your case I wouldn't control the frogs via the crossover but via the routes. You can define follow up actions for solanoids. So if a train e.g. runs from the left to right you set the solanoid to position A. If it runs from the buttom to the top you set it to position B. The solanoid then controls the polarity of the frog.
Viele Grüße,
Stefan

Hi,
Thank you for the answers.
I had started thinking about solving this with the turnout position instead of the cross, but I don't know how to do it.
As you say Stefan: "You can define follow up actions for solanoids."
But how do you do it in WDP?
I can't find anything in the manual to do that. Maybe I'm blind.   ;D
Does anyone know where I find an explanation how to do it?
Or can give me one here?

It would have been easy to find and understand how to do without a manual if there was an option in the same menu where you give the solonid a number for the decoder.
Maybe something that will come in an update in the future.  :)

Hello Freddie,

this is an option in the routes as it is an follow up action when an feedback contact is occupied. I enclose a picture. I have the German edition but I think you can find this option anyway. So please have a look in the manual at the routes.

Thanks Stefan.
I'll read and see if I understand how to do it.

I have looked into the information about version 2018 of WDP and can see that in update 2018.1 a change has been made and I think it is added that feature, I am looking for.
(Update Information 2018.1 page 25)

It looks like I have to upgrade from 2015 to 2018 to get what I want.

Hi Fredde,

no, that's not necessary. That work's with 2015 and older, too. It only looks different. I'm sorry but I don't have WDP 2015 or older anymore. So I can't show you.

Stefan

Hi Stefan
I see that there are different ways to solve my problems.
Now that I have seen that WDP 2018 has the function I need, this is probably the easiest way but also the most expensive to upgrade to WDP 2018.
Still think it was time to step up anyway.
I have sent an email to Peter and ordered an upgrade now.
I'm waiting for his answer.
Thanks Stefan for the help. I'll be back if I get stuck again. :)

Hello Fredde,

A other solution can also be in a solution from the company Tams, see link.

http://www.tamvalleydepot.com/products/dccfrogjuicers.html

I control with the use of  1 hexfrog this layout see picture .
Without the hassle of relays with or without software control.

Kind regards
Rupert

Thank you Rubert for your post.

Yes it is an option I looked at.
But I wanted to find a solution with WDP because I will have a lot of crosses and turnouts in my layout, and it would be quite expensive.
A Hex Frog Juicer would solve many situations, but as I said, it would be very expensive.
I have now ordered an upgrade to WDP 2018 where I saw that the function I want is available.
