For unknown reason as I am trying to start the Office version of WD 2021 I got suddenly the attached error message, while everything was working properly a week ago. I can not open my plan anymore.

Any suggestion, thank you for your help.

Hello Oliver,

please make a backup of your current, not working project and post it here (option: for internet/forum).

Then load an older backup that's working. What is the difference, what did you change between those backups? Please post that working backup, too.


Which language do you use for WDP?

What is very strange, I tried to launch even very old backup, none of them start. 1o days ago everything was working I did not open for ten days and now suddenly impossible to launch my plan.

However, I am still able to open and launch WDP2015, WDP 2018 and WDP2021 project. I am working most of the time on the English version, but sometime I switch to the French version.

I am not sure to understand where exactly to send you two or three backup files. If you can explain to me again. Size per backup is about 9400KB.

I forgot to mention I got WD 2021 installed on two computers a desktop and laptop and I am facing the same issue with both of them.

Dear Stefan,

Just did additional test in changing language, same issue. However I can open my project via the Track diagramme edit office version button from the Start Menu, but the window stay open only few seconds and then shutdow by itself.

Dear Markus and Stefan,

Tonight after making an update on my desktop I was able to open my project again. However, on my laptop, that I am using to drive my train, the automatic update did not find out any new files to be downloaded and I am still unable to open my project. I made an uninstal of WD2021 then re install, no change!

What should I do?

please copy the attached file into your Projects Directory (normally c:\wdigipet\Projekte\projectname), replace the existing one. Does this help?

Dear Markus,

Thank you very much it solves the issue on my laptop. However if I want to open a past backup the message error is coming back. I noticed that if I unchecked System Settings in the Restore Data window, then I can restore past backup without having the error message issue. Does it make sense to you?

Dear Markus,

I got an additional problem, after opening the Track Diagram Editor, it closes immediately after few seconds. I can not edit my track diagram anymore, while I can still do it from my PC. Is it because some historic file are missing from my laptop which had only the WD 2018 and WD 2021 version, while the PC got in addition the initial WD 2015 historic files.

I tried to cancel completely the Projekt.xml file but then I received the attached message. When I reopen my project then I am able to open the Track Diagram Editor but all system setup have disappear and I need to assign the digital system and create the feedback module and assign them the feedback number again. Of course it would be possible to do this, but it is rather troublesome, if you have a quicker way to fix my problem I would very much appreciate.

Hi Olivier,

since you have that much trouble with your laptop I'd suggest that you remove WDP completely (all versions) from your laptop, restart the laptop and reinstall WDP 2021.

I assume you make backups of your project so you can reload it thereafter.

I already tried this option to remove WDP from my laptop and even cancelled the WDP folder and reinstall it, it did not solve the problem unfortunately. There is a bug somewhere, but I do not understand where and why. What is strange is that I did not use WDP for two weeks and when I reopen it the problem appears on both desktop and laptop. Suddenly it works again on the desktop, while the issue remains on the laptop.

Hello Olivier,

The problem is, that two historical settings in the Projekt.xml are language sensitive and as far as i understood you changed the language sometimes.
I removed now from the Projekt.xml in the attachment all the language sensitive settings. Now please select the final language in the start center. Exit the startcenter and copy the file to your project´s directory. I hope this will help.

Hi Olivier,

in addition to Markus: do not use WDP on the laptop and on the PC in different languages. This may cause this trouble. If you load a backup from one device to the other WDP needs to run in the same language.
